A Program of the Saint Joseph School District & Hillyard Technical Center

Apprenticeship is an effective way to gain the necessary training to enter the workforce making a livable wage with ample opportunity for advancement. Registered youth apprenticeship combines related technical instruction at and on the job training scheduled with the partnering employer. This work-based learning experience give students the opportunity to gain the technical and employability skills necessary to be successful post-graduation.

Hillyard Technical Center - Sponsor

The St. Joseph School District acts as the sponsor of this program, the liaison between employer partners and the students eligible for hire. The Apprenticeship Coordinator oversees the program, which includes aligning with federal requirements; monitoring related classroom instruction; recruiting students; tracking competencies; helping apprenticeship students through graduation and to completion of certification after high school.

Information for Parents & Students

Apprenticeships are employer-driven so the employer decides who to hire. Employers are investing in students when they hire them with their own business’ assets. This is an opportunity for a student to grow in their ability and gain responsibility in the workplace. The goal of the Saint Joseph School District is educating each child for success. This program values community partnership as a means to provide students with personal and professional growth opportunities.
