Mr. Gagnon began his career in education as a social studies teacher at Hogan Preparatory Academy in Kansas City and Polo High School. During his time as a classroom teacher, Gagnon also served as a student council sponsor and coached multiple sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and track and field.

He transitioned into school administration in 2010, serving as a K-12 principal in the Stewartsville School District and as a 7-12 principal in the Winston School District. He later joined the St. Joseph School District, where he served as Assistant Director of Hillyard Technical Center before becoming Director of Hillyard Technical Center.

Gagnon holds an Ed.S. in Superintendency from Northwest Missouri State University, an M.Ed. in K-12 Leadership from William Woods University, and a B.S.E. in Social Science from the University of Central Missouri. Additionally, he has earned certification in Career and Technical Education Leadership from the University of Central Missouri.

Gagnon lives in St. Joseph with his wife, Heather, and their two children. His children have been enrolled in the St. Joseph School District throughout their educational careers. Gagnon and his family are members of Ashland United Methodist Church. He also serves as a youth baseball coach in the St. Joseph community.
