Mr. Gagnon began his career in education by serving as a social studies teacher at Hogan Preparatory Academy (Kansas City) and at Polo High School. During his 12 years as a classroom teacher, Gagnon also served as a student council sponsor, and coached multiple sports including football, baseball, basketball, and track and field.

He transitioned from the classroom and into a role in administration in the fall of 2010. He has served as a K-12 principal in the Stewartsville School District and as a 7-12 principal in the Winston School District. 

Gagnon holds an Ed.S. in Superintendency from Northwest Missouri State University, an M.Ed. in K-12 Leadership from William Woods University, and a B.S.E. in Social Science from The University of Central Missouri. Additionally, he has earned certification in Career and Technical Education Leadership from The University of Central Missouri.

Gagnon lives in St. Joseph with his wife Heather and their two children. His children have been enrolled in the St. Joseph School District for their entire educational careers. Gagnon and his family are members of Ashland United Methodist Church. Mr. Gagnon also serves as a youth baseball coach in the St. Joseph community.
