EMT Basic

Lives often depend on the quick reactions and competent care of emergency medical professionals. People in Emergency Medical Services must respond quickly, often making split-second decisions, which mean the difference between life and death. Students in this program will learn, through a combination of classroom and hands-on experiences, the care and transportation of the sick and injured essentials of lifesaving through emergency medical procedures.
Program Overview
This program includes instruction for becoming an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic. Students will assess simulated patients involved in trauma and medical accidents, learn CPR, and learn how to operate during other medical emergencies. Graduates are eligible to take the National Registry of EMT's examination. Entry level positions in this field require passage of this exam. Advancement in this field requires passage of the Paramedic Exam.
Program Length

Program Admission Requirements
High school students must be 18 years of age by May 1 of their senior year and a have valid driver's license
