In the Collision Repair and Refinish program, students will learn the basics of auto body repair through classroom and hands on experience in the auto collision shop. In the shop students will master the skills involving various hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and welding. Most work will be on passenger cars and light duty pickups, to familiarize students with materials, techniques, and new technologies.
This program is accredited through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) for refinishing. Entry into an occupation related to this program's field of study does not require national and/or state licensure or have any unique requirements for advancement.
Program Overview
In the classroom, students learn from various forms of literature, lecture, demonstrations, and classroom discussion. They will learn to use reference books, charts, manuals, and computers as tools of the trade.
In the shop, students receive the following hands-on experience in proper techniques used in the auto collision repair and refinishing industry:

Program Length
High school students will complete this program over two years. Hillyard Technical Center follows the St. Joseph School District school calendar for start dates, end dates, and holidays. District calendars can be found under the District Info tab on the SJSD website home page.
Program Admission Requirements
Program only available to high school students; must enroll through their high school counselor.
