About

Instructor: Roger Mapel

The age of computers has brought significant change to the fields of design, drafting, engineering, architecture, and the various other fields related to these areas. This course will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in various design and drafting areas. Approximately 80% of the student's time will be spent on a computer, 20% on board basics.

The class progresses at a strong steady pace and incorporates the D.R.A.W. (Discipline, Respect, Attitude, Work) method for success. Instruction is divided among lectures, demonstrations, and individual assistance. Most of the class time is spent in actual drawing creation. Students have complete access to a computer. The core areas covered are technical and architectural drafting.

The latest versions of Microsoft Windows, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit are the primary software programs taught. Every workstation is equipped with a computer and drawings are printed on a 24in. wide-format printer. Students will also have access to and learn the basics of 3D printing.

Entry into an occupation related to this program's field of study does not require national and/or state licensure or have any unique requirements for advancement.
